As Unreal Engine 5 has been released a couple of days ago, I thought it is time for my next demo exploring the possibility of this amazing game engine. However, this time I decided to raise the bar quite a bit. Firstly, I wanted to challenge myself conceptually. For this goal I chose a very strong brand like Porsche and decided to make a kind of motivational image video. In this video I aimed not only to establish their major brand values like high performance & quality, luxury & sportiness. I wanted to add a new layer of association being freedom and the spirit of exploration and adventure.
Secondly, as I usually don’t have that much free time, I put a temporal restriction on this undertaking of only 20 hours. However, the whole thing cost me in the end about 25 hours as I was learning some new aspects of Unreal Engine 5, especially Lumen (that gorgeous and insanely fast dynamic Global Illumination).
Regarding the music: initially I intended to compose it by myself, but as I was about 23 hours in making the demo I decided to download it from envato elements. I took two different songs, merged them and in the second song I added kick-beat and some snares and claps to raise the energy and avoid that cliche of pure epic sounding trailer music (a bit too much pathos for my taste).
3D Assets: I bought the car on the HUM3d site, and all other assets in video are mostly free content from Epic Games. Some of the landscapes have been done in World Creator and imported as heightmap into UE5. Post is done in Davinci Resolve.
